The launch of LGN's Street Design Awards 2008
The 2008 Street Design Awards have now closed and are currently being judged by our independent panel of experts.

The prestigious awards from Local Government News magazine aim to reward innovation and good practice in urban street design schemes undertaken by, or on behalf of, local authorities across the UK.
Established in 1986, the Awards attract over 100 entries in each of the seven categories. The competition is independently judged by representatives from the sponsors of the awards, which include the RTPI, Green Space, British Waterways, the Worshipful Company of Paviors, and the Lighting Industry Federation.
The seven categories are:
Pedestrian Environment – including town centre schemes and pedestrian priority solutions.
Highways – including traffic-calming schemes and environmental improvements.
Home Zones – including new or refurbished parks, open space or small gardens.
Urban Green Space – including newly completed schemes or theoretical designs within existi ng or new build residential areas.
Public Lighting – including street lighting, uplighting of public buildings and innovative use of light, taking into account energy efficiency measures.
Waterways – including any regeneration which has enhanced or made use of Britain’s network of waterways.
Children’s Play – including refurbished or new play facilities and areas.
Editor’s Choice – selected by the Editor as worthy of an extra mention.
The winners of this prestigious competition will be announced in the August issue of Local Government News. For further information, and to register an interest for the 2009 competition, please contact Laura Sharman, Editor of Local Government News, on 020 7973 4644 or l.sharman@hgluk.com

It would be great to have the previous years entries available as your previous website had.
